I've just had a visit from someone who said something quickly which I didn't catch. His appearance made it obvious he was selling something (clipboard, dark clothing) but he had an earring and untidy hair and looked rather too casual generally and in his body language to be likely to gain my trust or respect. I wasn't interested in whatever it was he was selling and I said 'bye'. As I closed the door he said 'how rude'. It's not up to me to welcome being disturbed by him! He was an unwelcome guest on my property and it's up to me whether to accept his approach or not.

Having been woken early this morning by the screeching sound of massed seagulls I discovered rubbish strewn all over the front of our property and assumed that it was related to the fact that a lot of the neighbours put their rubbish out the night before collection.
Obliged to clear up most of the mess it seemed that it was more likely some casual (or even deliberate)passer-by who had dumped the stuff as there were other small bags in unusual places. Perhaps it was the seagulls trying to save them for later.
