Activation: problem?
An anonymous message today said:
"Hi there, I dont know if I am writing in a proper board but I have got a problem with activation, link i receive in email is not working..." followed by a link.
Unfortunately, I can't follow this up as I don't know the user name you registered under and I have no way to contact you, though I do have your IP address.
If you email via the 'Contact CMO' in the menu or leave another comment below here, I can try to help.
Actually, this is a little odd as the same message is on at least two other threads, and none are connected with site "housekeeping" issues (About this site) and the activation link in each case is different.
Assuming you are interested in this village and this site, do get in touch but please don't leave a trail of copies of the same post everywhere.
Any other registration/membership queries or problems from anyone can be added below or else email us via 'Contact CMO'.
Luxembourg!
Another 4 identical comments today complete with identical typographical imperfections. The internet address says they're from Luxembourg and they still haven't responded to my offer to help (see above).
Western European internet spam is a bit of a novelty but we get plenty of it from Russia, Ukraine, China, the US and elsewhere. This makes a change.
We'll have no trouble here!
There have been another 3 identical comments (same typos again, so someone not very bright) complaining about not being to log in. This is not true since there are no corresponding login failures in the event log.
I've found I can ban an IP address (212.117.164.168 which is Luxembourg again) so maybe they'll bother someone else now.
No activation problems
Whoever wrote yesterday about account activation problem has written identical comments today (including typos!) on two more threads. So they didn't read my offer of help above, and are just posting copied text. This makes it virtually certain that it's just spam, probably automated.
If you're real, surprise us by responding!
