Dangerous Road
The combination of Merley Lane and Merley Park Road has just been the location of a fatal accident again. It might appear to be a quiet and "safe" country road but it has a nasty habit of springing surprises on the unwary. Personally I have been travelling along it at night and been confronted by a deer. I have been surprised to find a car upside down in the ditch with the police helicopter overhead. I have driven around a blind corner to find a horse being led by a pedestrian. Friends have reported having to take avoiding action from an oncoming speeding vehicle near a bend.
I wonder if we can obtain a consensus for the imposition of safety measures to slow down the traffic? It seems like a topic worth discussing to find the most appropriate measures.
Dangerous road
Having recently moved to Pardy's Hill, I witness on a daily basis a tarrade of vehicles speeding up and down the hill.
Of real concern is at the bottom of the hill where Broadmoor Road turns into Pardy's hill where the drivers ignore the speed limit as they come into the residential area.
Mostly are commuters taking whatever cut through the lanes on their ways too and from work, which is no excuse as if it continues, it is only a matter of time before there is a fatal accident here also. There are a number of children who live on the hill and regularly play by the side of the road.
It was encouraging to see a speed camera on the hill as I returned from work on Friday but I'd be foolish to think that this will do the trick.
Sleeping policemen would definitely help here
