Did Jesus really rise from the dead?

Hi folks.

As we approach Easter obviously I start to think about what I’ll be saying about Jesus’ death and resurrection. It’s always easy to for me to assume I know what people think about Jesus coming back to life again so instead I thought I’d ask you all.

So if you don’t believe that Jesus came back to life, and you’re willing to say why – could you put why in a brief response to this post?

Many thanks
Martin

View from the light side

Been a while, apologies! I said I’d say something about what the Bible says had happened to me that I wrote about last time…

Experientially it was like a light bulb going on for me. I saw everything differently, spoke differently (I now engaged in lots of debates with fellow students who were up for it) and lived differently. It’s not always (even often) this immediate for everyone, but I’ll pick out one way that the Bible describes what happened to me.

Step into the light

So I’d spent 3-4 months wrestling with Christianity, from the creation evolution issue, to understanding that it was all or nothing – not just a going to church thing. I could see I couldn’t make myself a Christian, yet I couldn’t see how it would happen. And then it did.

One evening I found myself in a discussion with my Mother & Sister in the kitchen about life the universe and all that. The conversation came around to Christianity and I found myself explaining to them some of what I’d learned over the last few months. And I said something like the following –

No man's land

If you’ve been following these posts, apologies for another big gap. Been a bit Christmas busy and all that.

To pick up the story again from last time.

Make no bones about it...

The story continues...

I quickly forgot about the heart thumping episode though I was somewhat surprised that later in the evening when my new friends said I should have responded. But as I remember it all went quiet on the religion front for a while until, via a close friendship with one of the girls in the group, the subject of evolution came up.

Strange encounters of the religious kind

So to take up from where I left off...

You’ll remember that I wasn’t brought up in a Christian home, never went to church and the main consistent religious influence had been in school assemblies. That said I do remember praying some prayers from a Bible story book as a child and really trying to mean them. I also never forgot the words of an R.E. Teacher who in a lesson whilst referring to Jesus once said, “there was only one man who was perfect, and look what they did to him”.

Journey to faith 1

Hello!

I’m Martin Walker from Corfe Mullen Family Church and in response to Andrew’s request I’m giving the faith blog a go. To be honest Andrew asked about this over 12 months ago but it’s taken me that long to think of some posts that may be appropriate for this forum. So, given that most of you don’t know who I am or haven’t met me, I thought I’d start by telling you the story of how I became a Christian which obviously in time led to me & my family moving to Corfe Mullen. It might take a few instalments (and I'll probably do them monthly) but hopefully it will be of interest to you.
